I am following a tutorial on Cineversity where the author (Raymond Olsen) is able to reflect a sky object in his scene with a material containing a gradient in the color channel. Unfortunately, I’m unable to get the same results and cannot get the technique to work in my project. The tutorial can be found here: https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaylist/creating_a_sports_logo_with_cv-artsmart/creating_a_sports_logo_with_cv-artsmart_environment_and_render_settings and Raymond adds in the sky around 4:35 in the video (Also, here is a link to see how Raymond’s render looks with and without a sky: https://www.dropbox.com/s/z3ir2zcdx58nq9y/raccoon-author-example.png?dl=0 ). He is using Cinema R18 so it may be that my version of Cinema (R20) doesn’t handle materials the same way. If this is the case, how would I have the reflection of the sky show up in R20 similar to what Raymond has?
I ran into a similar problem before but got around it by using PBR materials that seemed to allow you to use objects to light a scene. Though, since I’ve been following this particular series by Raymond, I have set up a lot of materials that are not PBR materials and altering my current setup seems like it will take a lot of time to do. Plus, I don’t know how I can get a similar result as Raymond did using the PBR materials and keeping my colors unaltered. Any recommendations would be very helpful. Thanks!
