Weighmanager shows black mesh

Hi there,
I wanted to refresh my character object knowledge and get stuck at Binding.
working in R21 entering the binding tab seems to autoweight directly,
but I end up with no binding (shiftdoubleclick/ weighmanager shows black mesh)
and greyed out control objects.
What am I missing?
Thanks in avance!
Mark

Hi maclink,

I moved your question to the Q&A forum, as it had not really anything to do with the Tutorial (Part 10).

Here is a short run down with the Farmer (R21). I had deleted the Weight, Skin, and the items for the Character Object (Weighting list).

In this way, I have a rig and a model not related to each other so far.

Please have a look.

I can send you an upload link in case you can’t attach it here (zip) or if you have no option to use one of these cloud options: DropBox, Google, Adobe, Amazon, or Apple.

All the best

Hi Sassi,
thanks for moving thread and your reply…
my problem is that I dont get the option to drag a mesh into the object field in the binding tab,
as soon as I select the binding tab sth gets calculated and results in showing the scene mesh in the bindings objects tab,
but I cant move controllers they’re greyed out, I can select them but also move/rotate tools axis’s are greyed out.
I tried it with several meshes/scenes and I assume I overlook sth. obvious.
Can you send a link to check what I’m overlooking?
thanks in advance!

Thanks, Mark, when I looked it up, I was told it stands for “south”. So, I had to ask.

I got the file, I will take a look right away.

Thanks for the file, Mark.

The Controllers are grayed-out in the Binding state, go to the Animate tab to get them working.

The Character will not show any weighting as long as you are in the SDS (SubDivisionSurface) mode.

Is this working for you?

All the best
