Vertical View of the Timeline

Hi,

Is there a way to have a vertical view of the timeline (currently it is on horizontal view)?
I’m trying to imitate the 2D animation timesheet (vertically laid-out).

I tried tearing off the timeline and setting the orientation to vertical but it just compresses the timeline.
Is there a way around this?

Thank you

Hi bentraje,

That would be a feature request, it is not possible at the moment, AFAIK.

I have never seen in the past 25+ years of production (while I have learned way over 200 applications since) a vertical timeline in a 2D or 3D animation application. Can you share a few examples?

Cheers

It’s specific to 2D. I was just wondering if it was possible to have that look in Cinema4D.

Bentraje,

Thanks, but really: I meant applications, not paper forms. In applications it is industry standard to go from left to right. I’m not certain how successful a suggestion will be, but who knows.

Example: The oldest professional lip sync app I’m aware of, which is working these days: Magpie. That was certainly one of the earliest adaptations from analog/stop motion animation studios. AFAIK.

My best wishes.

Thank you, bentraje.

If you create a suggestion for Maxon, please add any benefit that you can see in having it vertically, so your chances are higher.

Perhaps, as the paper-version, with fields for text to have something like a to-do list or notes for each “take”.

Cheers
