Hi Jonas

This was a great tutorial!

I built a file using the technique in the tutorial but I am stuck on getting each emitted particle (and sweep) to be a different colour.

I thought the multi-shader might do the trick but its not quite what I am looking for.

Could you look at the attached file and offer any suggestions on how I might accomplish this?

best regards

Hi Cameron Bowyer,

Over the weekend the forum was updated. We experiencing now old bugs and new ones. Really sorry about that. Since a while, I try to send you an upload link. I have no idea if you got it or not. The interface tells me that I have sent it already.

Attachments are not working since a while. I have moved for now to DropBox (Amazon, Google, Apple, and Adobe cloud is fine, anything else, I will not touch for security reasons.)

I will move this message to the Q&A since your question is different than the tutorial content.

I hope you got my upload link. Really sorry about all the bugs and annoyances, thanks for your patience.

Cheers

Cameron Bowyer,

Please have a look at the two files below:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/Z5tUuZeITPGS1A8Mjr2sVeS6G4SVr2ERIkB4C7OFZT9

Let me know what you miss or what else it should look like, I’m happy to look into it.

In the Hair Material, you will find in Color> Var>HSV (use the hue value to adjust the distance from the given color.
In the MoGraph based version, the Random Effector provides the color. Make certain that the Min/Max value is 0-100% (vs. -100%/100%).

Please render.

Enjoy.

Thank you for the files Dr. Sassi

Placing the Sweep object inside a Fracture object with a Random effector to randomize the colour was the piece I was missing!

Make certain that the Min/Max value is 0-100% (vs. -100%/100%). Yes, very important.

best regards

Thanks a lot, Cameron Bowyer.

Thanks, as well as, for letting me explore your file, and I see now why you wanted to use the Multi-Shader. (For anyone reading along, the “…_MGrc_01” from post #3 will work with the Multi-Shader.)

I’m glad this is working for you. Please let me know if there is anything else, I’m happy to look into it.

Sorry again for all the “attachment problems”. Michelle is managing all of that troubleshooting behind the scenes to make it smooth again.
Thanks for your patience.

Cheers
