Hi guys

I’m trying to use sculpting tools in my model, but it’s impossible to work in R19 and R20.

I have a rough model of a sand castle and I need to add details, and instead of using Zbrush, I gave a chance to Cinema 4D’s Sculpt tools. But it is ridiculous how slow it is.

I just wanted a confirmation of this bad performance to definitively forget Sculpt in C4D and jump to Zbrush.

Currently I have a subdivision in level 2 with 2.111.040 polygons and the performance is really laggy. It is already impossible to work in level 2, but if I subdivide 1 more time, I get a message every time when I touch a sculpt tool in my model: “initializing vertex buffer objects…”.

I’m not trying to sculpt fancy stuff, just a basic shape and Cinema 4D is not being helpful.

Please find here the model I was trying to sculpt:

Thanks

Daniel Sian

Hi Daniel Sian,

The Cineversity Toolbox is for CV-Tools, not for technical problems of the product itself.

Please check with the support if you think something is not working, we are not supposed to do this part of the care.

Thanks for understanding.

Hey Dr. Sassy it’s a pleasure to meet you again!

Sorry about that, I’m going to contact them.

For now, do you have any tip to get more performance with Sculpt tools in general?

Cheers

Hi there,

Thanks for understanding. The tech support holds a variety of machines and configurations, all for the sake of carrying for our artists: If something is off, they can communicate in the fastest way.
I know how frustrating things can be, to wait for a solution or even answer. I have not even a Zbrush application so my opinion would be somewhat biased or relative at best.

BTW, it’s Sassi, not ‘sassy’, thanks, … and yes I know, that might be muscle-memory-at-work while typing.  I’m not aiming to be sassy. wink

If there is anything else, please let me know in the F&Q forum, I’m happy to have a look at it! I answered here, as I know the team is at NAB, and currently, they might wrap up the booth. I didn’t want you to have to wait until next week.

Have a great weekend

I’m so sorry Dr. Sassi!

I was just typing without using my brain!

Cheers

Thanks a lot, Daniel Siam!

I’m certainly not without typos, but with names, I hope I take good care of everyone.
Thanks for understanding.
ENJOY!
