Lost dynamics capability

Created a new scene today in Broadcast R20 with a plane and sphere.  Added a collider simulation tag to the plane and then a rigid body tag to the sphere.  Nothing moves when playing the animation.

Upon closer inspection, whenever I add a Simulation Tag | Rigid Body, I see the tag icon show up as a collider body tag instead.  And in the Dynamics attributes of the tag, it is enabled, but Dynamic is set to “Off”.  My only choices are “Off” and “Ghost”.  It used to have a choice of “On”.

I restarted C4D, but the same thing happens with another new scene.

Any reason that I lost the ability to add Rigid Body tags?  My Project settings for Dynamics are all at defaults (enabled, Gravity of 1000 cm, etc.)

Hi Ricky Sharp,

You didn’t lost it, it is by default only available in conjunction with MoGraph. Dynamics in the Broadcast version is limited.

Go to Simulation

But a Cloner with one Clone might do what you want, going by the description of the scene you like to set up.

If there is anything else, please let me know.

All the best

Haha; I didn’t realize that.  I had earlier created Voronoi fractures and had dynamics and collisions going.  So had assumed a very simple scene would have worked.

Your workaround by having a cloner with a single object does work.

Eventually I will upgrade to the Studio version smile

Ricky Sharp, nice that it works for you.

Please never think that I push to buy anything, I’m biased of course, having said that: more toys are certainly not bad to have! wink

ENJOY

I don’t think that at all, Dr. Sassi.  No worries.

While I’m just learning C4D, I wanted to keep the budget a bit lower.  I’m able to do an incredible amount of work though with the Broadcast version; it’s really great software!

Thanks for the reply, Ricky Sharp, I’m more passionate – than a sales man, hehe.

I think there is quite a lot to explore in the Broadcast version. As I usual say: the features alone are great, but the mixture creates the magic: … and MoGraph alone has nearly endless possibilities.

I’m just happy when I can solve things, so the fun stays alive.

ENJOY.
