Hi,

I got a question about turning on rigid body on certain height.

If there is a sphere popped out from under a surface(the surface is a collider, the sphere is a rigid body ), how do i set up so that the surface will interact with the sphere only after the sphere reach certain height ?

You can xplore xpresso.
Check out the attached file.
By comparing the height of the sphere against a constant value (set in the compare node) you can toggle the dynamic state of a tag.

Hi Rio.Matthew,

Nice that this worked, which is of course the best.

When I read about your idea, I thought the Ghost would be the right one. Patrick posted, so I had let go of it, as it was clear that it will work in this specific case more precisely*.

However, there might be a case where it is not that simple like using the P.Y value.: Like an object is inside of another one and after it moved out the Collision should work.
Something like that.
A copy with a negative “normal shift” (Just to make it a little bit smaller) can be used for the Ghost “trigger”. It might be a little bit tricky, as the speed of the moving-object and the distance of the two objects is *related to a certain degree in that case. It shouldn’t be faster moving as the trigger can switch it on or off.

However, I thought it was worth to share.

Al the best

Sassi

Wow, this setup is awesome.

Thanks a lot Dr.Sassi, i can definitely study this ghost collider concept for other things.

But the one that Patrick gave is quite enough for my case. Especially after i add a collision deformer :D.

Hi Rio.Matthew,

Yes, I think Patrick’s version is way more stable to use in your case. As usual there are many ways to do things and even more ideas how it should work. Long story short, the more ideas the better, at least to have a selection to pick from. In that way I shared the Ghost idea.

Thanks for your reply,
Have a great Day

Sassi
