Hey,
sorry if this duplicates, post didn’t show up.
Trying to use elements from an Artsmart object’s Path Spread curve around a path. Tried Mograph but no go.
Any thoughts?
thanks.

You need access to the base spline I think, so you’ll have to make the object editable (or copy/import the spline in separately). Unfortunately the ArtSmartObject itself only contains the polygonal data for the outside of the object.

Thanks for that, Rick.
If you’re still there, is there a way to Transfer (not manually move or punch in coordinates) JUST parents? The way Artsmart breaks up and zeroes out the children means this is a very manual process to get along a spline driven cloner as it doesn’t keep the spacial arrangement and sticks all the elements centred to the spline. Tried the ‘7’ hotkey while Transferring but no joy there.
cheers.

Sorry, not sure I follow. Can you provide a sample file?

Sure. In the first C4D file, I’m trying to have ArtSmart follow a path. In the second, I’ve split the ArtSmart but the original vectors are all ‘zeroed’ which the Cloner is reading.
cheers.

Ah I see - totally misunderstood what you were going for.

I think you can achieve what you want simply by applying the effector at the path level rather than layer level. So instead of adding it in the Layer Effector tab, navigate to the Layers tab and drag it into the effectors list there. That way you can also omit the outer shield if you want by moving it to a different layer in AI.

Hi SIX,

I hope Rick’s native solution will work for you. It is the most elegant solution.

Sorry for the intrusion, but perhaps this helps the discussion:
Since I try to understand your target, let me ask you – is this what you are looking for?
Scene file and screen capture:

Alternative:

Axis Center> (After setting the logo in to the editor view center, while all 51 Nulls selected)>View Center.

One more option:
Another option would be with the Spline Warp. This would mean: zero clone options, but much faster to set up, and to replace the ai file if needed. However, in this way it used more options from the great Art Smart plug-in. Which means, it keeps the pipeline active and fast.

Fingers crossed the answer was in the post above and no further actions needed.

Enjoy your weekend

Hi Rick and Dr. Sassi,
wow, that’s perfect (and a custom tutorial!).
I got pretty close to this but yep, this just works.
Thanks so much for all the help.
cheers,
SiX
