Evenly distribute points on existing object

When I’m modeling, I frequently find myself re-spacing out points one-at-a-time in an effort make the cleanest possible mesh. Is there any automatic way of redistributing a group of selected POINTS - not objects - evenly between the first and last points in the selection - within a given axis. Think of how “Distribute” works in Adobe products.

See example image…. any way to get from the top image to the bottom image without having to move each point individually?

I’ve not found such a function anywhere. Would it be possible to write an expression or something that I could use to do it?

Thanks

For a planar mesh like you are showing you can try the “iron” tool.
only select the inner points and then run the “iron” tool a couple times.
AFAIK there isn’t an automatic way.
This could be a fun little python exercise smile

Thanks Patrick! That’s pretty close to what I was wanting to do. If I have the free brain cells in the future, I may try to learn Python and create a script. But for now, I think I can settle for “good enough”.
