View Category:Composition

Composition, in the visual sense, refers to the arrangment of subject and supporting elements within an image.  Composition is used to tell a story; placing the viewer, subject and supporting elements in such a manner that conveys the desired emotional response.  Rules of composition apply to virtually any image, whether an illustration, photograph or moving imagery.  Composition relys on positive and negative space (there things are present and absent), offset placement, and balance.
