- In Cinema 4D release 18, a shadow catcher material has been added. This allows you to create an alpha channel based off the shadows cast by lights in a scene. This makes it easier to composite objects into footage, without fears of white fringing because of anti-aliasing in the object buffers, or having to render out two separate takes for the object and the surface it's casting a shadow on. So, let's take a quick look at how we can set this up. So, we're going to start with this basic scene that has been set up for us. We also have a plane that's been added to act as the ground. Now, to set up the shader, we're going to start by going to the create menu, and then to shaders and choose the shadow catcher. This will add a new material to the material manager. If we double click on the material to bring up the material editer, we can see the attributes for the shadow catcher. Now, there's not a lot here to work with, and that's a good thing. First, we have the choice of choosing whether we're catching shadows or if we're catching reflections. In this case, we're just going to focus on the shadows. So, we're going to start by dragging the shadow catcher material onto the ground plane. Then, in the render settings, you'll want to make sure that you have your alpha channel set up. You will notice that we don't have to create a separate pass here. It's set for a global illumination. So we can close that and then start a render. While the render is going, we'll be able to see that the shadow itself has been added to the alpha channel. But if we take a look at the background, we can see that it's pure black. While this could be good, for our compositing purposes, we may want some of the background image to show through. So in this case, you can adjust the shadow strength with the shadow strength slider, and you can even adjust the shadow color. For this scene, we're using global illumination. So, we can also choose to include lighting. Now when we render, you'll see that the shadow is still going to show black in the main render. But if we go back to the alpha, you'll see that we now have a lighter color here, and this means it's going to let some of the background through. Now, for our final render, there's still a few things that we want to set up, so we can make a copy of the ground shadow and we'll just set this up to make reflections on the C. So, we'll go ground reflection, and then we'll make two compositing tags on each of these objects. For the shadow, we do not want it to be seen by transparency or refraction or reflection or AO. For the ground reflection, we need to make sure that we uncheck seen by camera. This way, it's not going to overlap the shadow catcher. It's just going to contribute to the reflections on the C logo. Now, we want to make sure that we're also taking our footage and applying that to the ground reflection. This way, it's going to get the proper reflections on the C. At this point, you can set up your render and render everything out, and then bring it into After Effects. Now, we want to composite this all together inside After Effects. So, we're going to start by importing our footage. We'll import the GI pass, and then we'll import the logo pass. For both of these, we need to set the interpretation for the footage to 24 frames per second, and we'll do the same thing for the GI, and then click on okay. Now, we can drag both of these into our time line. So, we'll hit control shift C to precompose these two layers together. And we can call this Cineversity Logo. And then, click on okay. Now, everything is still black. So, let's go ahead and fix this. We'll jump into the Cineversity logo and set the GI so that it's over top of the C. And we want to make this so that it's additive. Next, we're going to make a duplicate of the main C, so that we can use this as an alpha mat for the GI. Now, if we set our transparency to grid mode here, you'll be able to see the effect of this a lot more clearly. Now, there's still a little bit of fringe in there and the logo's still fairly dark. So what we want to do is on the GI, we're going to enable the transparency. And this removes a lot of the fringing as well as lightens up the shadow inside of the C. Now, we can go back to our main composition and we'll see that we get a nicely composed shadow on the ground. If we want, we can lock the composition and go back to the Cineversity logo layer, and then adjust the opacity on the GI to get the shadow density to match the surrounding shadows a little bit better. Once you're happy with that, you'll need to do a little bit of masking to get the shadows to blend together better, but you'll have your final logo floating in space. So, the new shadow catcher inside Cinema 4D release 18, gives you an easy way to composite your objects inside any scene.
Nesta cena estamos usando Global Illumination. Então, neste caso, podemos escolher incluir a iluminação. Desta maneira, teremos as reflexões corretas no "C". Agora vamos compor todas as imagens renderizadas dentro do After Effects. Para tanto, começamos importando nosso material. Vamos importar o GI Pass e o Logo pass.
Şimdi, tüm bunları After Effects içerisinde kompoze etmek istiyoruz.
