There is good cause to group the Cycle and Mute functions. When you use the cycle option, to repeat keyframes over a specific time, then you sometimes need to have exactly one more cycle. One idea to use one more cycle than expected in the first moment and mute the one that you don't need.

Mute gives you the option to set selected Keys so that other influences can take over. You are basically setting these keys to have a lower priority. Priorities are the rules in which information is used at the moment. You can set a priority higher or lower, but finally... take a look.
