If you're looking to unlock the full potential of what Cinema 4D has to offer, the Broadcast and Studio versions include a Deformer called spline wrap that can take any piece of geometry and wrap it or conform it along a spline. And this opens up a lot of possibilities when it comes to creating cursive logos. So in this series, we used a Sweep object with a circle profile shape to create our cursive logo. So we're only limited to using the profile splines to sweep along that other spline. With the spline wrap, though, you can actually deform 3D geometry and have it conform and bend or wrap along a spline. You can see in our scene right here, we have our same spline that spells out our cursive logo of "play," and I have this 3D arrow here. So what we're going to do is use our spline wrap here, you can see it. And how the spline wrap works is kind of similar to the Sweep object where you have to define a spline that you want to then use to deform your 3D object. I'm going to use that PL spline, just drag it right in the spline field here. And then I'm just going to enable my spline wrap by turning it on, and you can see that that arrow now is deformed along that PL spline. So I added some spline wraps to both the Underline and the A-Y splines, and you can see that I created this cool, graffiti-ish cursive logo that is using just that one 3D arrow and bending it along our P-L-A-Y and Underline splines in creating this really cool, totally different kind of look using the same exact splines that we use for our Sweep object. So this opens up a ton of possibilities to creating some really interesting 3D art. So here's another example, again, using the same exact splines that we've been using in this whole entire series. And in this case, I simply just used a whole bunch of cubes and just grouped all of them together, connected them with a Connect object you can see right here, and just bended them along a spline. And if I render this out, you can see again, this kind of looks graffiti-ish. It totally gives a different feel to our logo. And again, using the same exact splines that we used throughout this whole entire series, but instead of using just a circle swept along our splines, we're using a group of cubes. So this is really really cool and it's a lot of fun and the spline wrap's so easy to use. So one final thing I want to show as an example is this simple plane. This is just a flat plane, that if I turn off the spline wrap here you can see I actually applied a material from Photoshop. It's just an arm. So if I render this out, you can see that it's just an arm with a hand. And one thing, if you're used to using After Effects, one thing you'll know is bending layers along a path is a very, very difficult thing to do. You can use the puppet tool and all this other stuff, but it's a very, very difficult thing to do. Using the spline wrap, we can bring in Photoshop layers or After Effects layers, apply them as a material to a flat plane here, apply a spline wrap, and we're using a spline that says, "hey," that you can see right here. And if I render this out, you can see that we just bent that whole plane with that arm texture, that flat texture, bent it along a 3D spline and we have this really cool, still kind of flat composition where we bent that arm along our "hey" spline. This would be extremely hard to do in After Effects and with just using the spline wrap and Cinema 4D, we made what is very hard to, sometimes almost impossible to do in After Effects, and made it extremely easy inside of Cinema 4D. So one other thing I want to show is, with the spline wrap, we actually have all the flexibility to rotate how our 3D geometry is applied to our object. We can also offset it, we can keyframe that offset to have this kind of animate on. So there's a lot of flexibility, and again, very similar to how the Sweep object works, we can control how our object is scaled along our spline. In addition to scale, we can also adjust the rotation, how our object is rotating along our spline. So there's a lot more flexibility using the spline wrap that really takes what you can do with the Sweep object and takes it to next level. So if you're a 2D animator looking for that bridge that allows you to add 3D to your workflow and add 3D depth to your compositions to help your work stand out, Cinema 4D is the perfect addition to your animation pipeline.
