- An essential part of modeling inside Cinema 4D Lite is creating splines. We use splines together with generators to create 3D models. Once you become masters of splines, you will be able to model pretty much anything you can imagine. Procedural splines are the equivalent of shapes inside After Effects. They are straightforward to create and change. Here are a few examples. Go to the Spline drop-down, and any one of these blue splines is a procedural spline. Let's start with this one, an arc. Let's select it and go to the Object tab of the Attributes Manager. It has all sorts of types, sector, arc, segment, ring, and so forth, and we can change the radius, start and end angle, and the plane, which is basically the orientation. Currently, you can see it's lying on the XY plane, and we can change that to change the orientation. Let's take a look at a few others. To make it easier on us, I'm going to click and hold, go here to rip it out, and if you want to make the icons bigger, let me show you a trick. Go here, drag this, and right click in the gray area. Go to Icon Size and make them large. Ooh, that's nice now. I can see...circle. Like any other object, we can move things around. We can scale, undo, and we can rotate. Again, undo. Let's go to the Move Tool, and let's go select our circle and see what we have here. Again, it's very simple to create them and edit them. The helix is a 3D spline. Let me change the orientation, and we can create springs and other interesting things. We have the start radius, we have the start angle, the end radius, the end angle, and you can go through these things and they're quite self-explanatory. Then, we have rectangles, stars, we have four-sided, cycloids, cogwheels, cissoids, formulas, flowers, profiles, and finally we have the text. In a new scene, let's add a text spline. In the Object tab in the Attributes Manager, let's go and type in something like "Cinema 4D Lite". Click outside to accept it. Let's change Type Face, and align it in the middle, then we can make it bigger or smaller, and all sorts of other things. But let's go to the interesting stuff. Here it says "Kerning", and you can click on this and activate the Show 3D GUI. What this allows you to do is go and select these tabs here. So you click once to select it, or you can Shift+click to select more than one letters, and then you can do things like make them taller, or narrow, or wide. Other things you can do, let me select this one here, you can change the baseline, and you can click and drag here and move it left or right. You can do quite a lot of things interactively, which will allow you to create the perfect typography you want with your text. One thing you need to know about splines in general, and let me turn this off for now, is that splines are not renderable by themselves. So if I click Render, you will see nothing. Although, if I have an object and I render, you will see the object, but not the spline. Now, you know how to create procedural splines, how to edit them, and how to create interesting typography using the text spline 3D GUI. The fun is about to begin.
Haga clic fuera a aceptarlo.
