Learn how to launch C4D Lite from within After Effects CC

Cinema 4D Lite can’t launch from the application icon. You’ll be hard pressed to find the icon to begin with. Let’s learn how to launch C4D Lite from inside After Effects CC, by creating a new empty document, or by importing an existing one. It’s so easy, I think I’m going to delete this video after all.

- Cinema 4D Lite can only be launched from inside After Effects. The simplest way is to go to File, New, MAXON Cinema 4D File. Select an appropriate place on your hard disk. I'm going to overwrite this old file and just type in "02". Press Save, and Cinema 4D Lite will launch with the name of the document you just put in the save. Now alternatively, let me quit this, back in After Effects let's create a new empty project. Don't Save, and this time let's import an existing Cinema 4D document. Import, Globe Sphere, Open and with the Cinema 4D project selected, press Cmd+E on a Mac or Ctrl+E on a PC to edit the original. That will fire up Cinema 4D Lite with the current document in place. Let's go back to After Effects. If you have a commercial version of Cinema 4D and have set it as the editing application... In order to do that let's take the Cinema 4D document and drop it on a composition, and this will add the Cineware effect. If you go to the options, you will see that we have, for rendering and for editing, two places on the hard disk currently and by default this points to Cinema 4D Lite. But if you have a commercial version, you can change this into one of your commercial Cinema 4D installations. For this series, I will use only Cinema 4D Lite. So to follow through closely, please reset these options to their default state to avoid any confusion. Everything we do in Cinema 4D Lite is achievable in the commercial version of Cinema 4D, but not vice versa.
