Today is release day for Cinema 4D Release 17, and many of you are already downloading and installing your new software. Today's quick tip is all about some very special things you need to consider while you're installing and getting up to speed with Release 17. And the first one is to make sure to install the most recent update to Cinema 4D. The online updater should pop up immediately the first time you launch Cinema 4D. If for some reason it doesn't, just choose Check for Updates from the help menu. And you're going to want to install the most recent Cinema 4D update that's available. MAXON works continuously throughout the year to improve and enhance the software, so you'll always want to make sure you're running the most recent update. The content library is given enhancements as well, so you may want to install and update to those if it's available. And you also want to install the most recent documentation update for your preferred language. If any updates don't show up in here that you're looking for, make sure to check the optional tab because sometimes they show up in there. Now when it comes to plugins, a lot of Python plugins are actually going to need to be updated to work with Cinema 4D Release 17.032 because the Python version has been updated from 2.6 to 2.7. We've already made these updates to the CV Toolbox plugin, so make sure to download the most recent version from the Toolbox link on the Cineversity.com webpage. Toolbox is the easiest way to get your Cineversity plugins installed. We haven't updated all of the Cineversity plugins yet, but we'll get them out as soon as we can, and Toolbox will notify you anytime a new plugin is available. Finally, don't forget to register your software to get permanent serial numbers either by visiting register.maxon.net or by choosing the Register Online option from the help menu. And, of course, if you haven't done so already, I recommend you watch the Release 17 quick start series as well as all of my previous quick tips on Release 17, and check back at Cineversity often for more tutorials on how to get the most out of Cinema 4D Release 17.
