Hi CRGIBSON,
Thank you for the suggestion. Just so the communication is clear, you talk about this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planogram
This forum here is/was for Cineversity Live, which has its current focus on Event Presentations of the best artists available, e.,g during NAB or Siggraph.
Just a little hint, to keep things organized here and have it in an easy to use way, if you like to suggest another tutorial, please use the “Tutorial Suggestion Forum” http://www.cineversity.com/forums/viewforum/96/
It has been a while that I have had spend time in this area, but back then we used photos and camera projection (if needed) to accomplish this. Mostly to see how a new product would stand out in the filled shelf.
Is your question based on these quick 2.5D ideas, or more based on 3D representations of the products. IF it is all about box like shapes, it might be easily done. But if you need 3D scanning of more complex structures, (e.g., shoes, that might be a longer theme. Well, perhaps not so much, if we take a look to all these new 3D scanners attached to an iPad. Any thoughts?
All the best
Sassi
