Character Object Skin Priority Issue

Hello,

I am experiencing a lag from my Skin Deformer. I am using Cinema 4D’s Character Object along with some custom face joints/controls.

As you can see in the attached image (Skin_Lag_800.gif), the joints and controls are one frame ahead of the Skin. Some notes on the Priorities:

* The joints are rigged with an IK Spline tag that has its Priority set to Generators 0
* The Skin is at the top of the Object Manager and its priority is set to Generators -1 (see image ‘Skin_crop.png’, attached))

I have uploaded my scene here:
Skin Lag Scene

Can anyone please help me to get the joints and the skin in sync?

Thank you!

Hi, blastframe,

If you set the two Spline IK to Expression 100 and camera dependent, it should work nicely.

It was set to Generators 0, which is executed after the Skin Deformer (G, -1), hence the delay. But also, it must come after anything that leads to that movement of the [parent] joint.

Please watch this until it is muscle memory wink
Ignore the old Dynamics level, that was R11 and earlier. Anything else, it is just the: must know. Both parts.

Please have a look here as well:

Priorities will be part of any character animation artist. It is just essential to have them down. Sorry, there is no other way, as long as you like to stay in control.

Enjoy your project.

Excellent, Dr. Sassi, thank you. After Priority issues have come up several times, it is clear that I need to understand them better before going forward with my rig.

Thank you again!

You’re very welcome, blastframe.

I know it is like UV or Xpresso, Priorities are the least favorable parts…

Cheers.

Once you have it down, blastframe, you will enjoy the power to rule your scene wink

The only time “top to down” calculation is reversed, when you use Fields.

Have you considered the PoseMorph for facial animation?

Have a great weekend.
