Hi,

without spline and sweep, any other way to make branches like brush and set thickness scale-able…?

Regards,
Imran.

Hi Imran,

I really don’t understand the idea of avoiding Splines.
Could you please elaborate why? I’m certainly game to explore this, but without know why the limitation is set, I need to know it, otherwise I might invest time to create something that is also excluded.

Splines and Trees/Branches:

• Particles in Tracer = Spline

• MoSpline’s Turtle tree (a default in C4D) = Spline

• Splines in any shape, scale based on Rail Spline = Spline

• Any spline in Volume with fields = Spline

• Hairs is practically based on a form of Splines = Spline

scroll down.

Particles R10-R19, doesn’t work in R20 based on COFFEE

With all these excluded, I can only suggest to use the various plug-ins or even applications to produce a tree or branches.

Otherwise, this could have been a full parametrically tree if Splines would be allowed.

Sure there are many advance ways to do that but I dont that for now, need as per sketch.

I tried with spline but small branches have same starting point thickness. can we fix that…?
Any way make spline understand that this is one spline and use one falloff (blue to white) not separate of small splines…?

Regards.

Hi Imran,

I guess you missed my screen shot above.
Here is the scene file to that screen shot

Here is you file back:

I copied the Spline and placed it under the original, Spline.R [rail]. After moving it a little bit away from the original the scale comes into play. Then moving single points to adjust the model until it looked like the sketch I have provided above (based on your file.

… and another version based on the option to place any Spline into a MoSpline and use Effectors/Fields to scale it.

P.S.: here is a file that uses one Spline (with segments), but it is drawn from the main branch to the twigs and from there to the stems. In that very specific order. Which allows to set up three Sweep Objects with the a MoSpline and affect so the diameter of each part more in detail.

Please have a look here:
