Shrink Wrap with Polygon Pen

Hello, community,

I have seen some online tutorials using Polygon Pen while the Wrink Wrap deformer applied. I never able to get it to work. When I switch to Polygon Pen it will be unwrapped or shrink wrap is disabled but once I get off of the polygon pen edit mode the shrink wrap is enabled again, even though I have Reproject Result checked.

Thank you very much in advance for every answer!

Hi artefact,

Do you have – Attribute Manager> View-Settings> Display> Deformed Editing – set to ON?

To re-topologize, the Object shouldn’t be active, as the re-retopologized object should be a new one.

In which version do you work?

If that doesn’t help, please provide a small scene file.

Please let me know if that has worked for you.

All the best

Hi Dr. Sassi,

I have the Deformed Editing checked. I went to the link you sent and tried exactly the same and I was able to edit with the move or scale tool but not Polygon Pen or Deform Editing Mode currently not support Polygon Pen?. I am currently using Cinema 4D R19.053 Here’re some of the test screenshots.

Thank you very much for the very fast reply and you are always have been very helpful in the Cinema 4D community. I really admire and appreciate!

artefact, you’re very welcome, please have a look at the screen capture, done in R19 for you.

Screen capture:

Can you reproduce the steps? I create a cube, shrink wrap it to a sphere and then use the Pen Tool.
You might download the clip, for a better viewing experience.

I hope that makes it work for you.
You also can use the “Object Manager> Object> Current State to Object – while in Object Mode and the Object in question is active. This should give you a copy to work with. Which can be deleted afterwards.

Alternative, drag the shrink wrapped object under a Subdivision Surface with the setting of zero for the subdivision. This creates an internal non editable copy of it as well.

For both, have a look here:

Wow! This video is really helpful! I was trying to edit with the object that has the shrink wrap deformer applied the whole time, but the correct way is to create another poly object over the one that has shrink wrap applied.

Again Thank you very much, Dr. Sassi!
