Voronoi Fracture with Volume Builder vs. Lathe

I’m just starting out with C4D and created a spline in Adobe Illustrator (half of a chess pawn’s profile).  CV-ArtSmart into C4D, then Lathe, and finally a Voronoi Fracture.  I’ve noticed though that artifacts will often appear.  I’ve tried various settings to include having the Lathe produce a single object and/or having Voronoi fill any holes.  Prior to the addition of the Voronoi, the mesh looks perfectly OK.

The artifacts will show up even if I make the Lathe editable (and thus just end up with a mesh).  I have also optimized said mesh.

As a workaround, I’ve found that I can use a Volume Builder and Volume Mesher on the Lathe.  Set the Adaptive value on the mesher as needed, then put into a Voronoi Fracture.  I no longer see any artifacts.

Is this a known issue with Lathe and Voronoi? Are there any other workarounds that may be easier to employ?  Thank you.

Edit: I tried to attach a zip of the C4D project (~200K), but FireFox refused to attach it.

Ah, I found that if I ‘Flip Normals’ on the Lathe, the artifacts disappear.

Thanks Ricky Sharp,

Sorry [1] for the late reply, but I was a week roughly offline. (NAB NYC, etc)

Sorry [2] about the zip file mime stuff, pretty annoying, I admit. Typically I create an upload link.

If there is any question left, let me know, I’m happy to look into it.

Thanks so much for updating your thread, very much appreciated.

Cheers

No problem, Dr. Sassi.

I ended up finding the answer; I found that ‘Flip Normals’ on the Lathe was required.
