Looking for some help to get the nulls data under a cloner in R20 to AE?
Let me know how you would set this up and get the data out to AE. Thanks!

Hi Hoi,

I see you use already the External Comp tag, it needs to sit on the Cloner, as in your image. A scene file is always more useful. Images are very limited, e.g. parameters can’t be seen.

You set the Render-settings to Frame Range: All Frames
The Save path is set
The Compositing Project file to 3D and After Effects and Save.
In Ae open the “aec” file.

As a side note, sometimes a Cloner might not produce (e.g., when made editable) good results with Nulls, a workaround is to use: Create> Objects> Empty Polygon.

Hi Sassi,

Thanks for the advice, it was my mistake that I didn’t click on cache under the external composite tag, now i can see all the nulls/ children under the cloner in the AE composite!

Thanks,
Hoi

Hi Hoi,

Ah, you changed the message (I read the e-mail only), just saw it, I made a clip for you and files. I see that they are not longer needed. Cool that you found it, and great that it works now.

The cache is on by default, yes I can see it in the image. I use project files, they are not so fuzzy wink

Here is a short run down, for anyone having problems. Typically with each update of C4D or Ae this question comes, so here we have it already for everyone in the forum.
This is for R20, and much older Ae version than the 2018 version need the plug in that can be found in the Cinema 4D folder: Exchange plug ins.
