Weld & Stitch and Sew

I am trying to follow along with a tutorial that deals with the following tools:

1. Weld
2. Stitch and Sew

In the tutorial, the instructor is using the weld tool in points mode and clicking on unactivated points (unselected) points and then welding.

For some reason, when I try to click on an unselected point with both the weld and stitch and sew tool, it does not work. I have to switch tools to live selection (or some other selection tool) and then select the point, then go back to my weld tool and it will work. This seems excessive to me? I just want to select my tool and go straight to the geometry.

Is there a preference that I have to activate or something else?

Hi Fountail,

You have to be in Point Mode. The points have to be from the same object.

Now, hold down the Shift Key and click on the first points, KEEP HOLDING DOWN, and go to the second point. Done.

Of course there is just the average position with this method. If you hold CTRL while doing the same, the last point is the given position.

There are two nice and large image in the Help Menu showing the result:

You get to the Help Content with a right mouse click on a specific item, parameter, etc, and select: ? Show Help

All the best
