Hi Cineversity,

Question, I am attaching a project I’m working on. It is a paper “wrapping” with pose morph. I tried this with joints, but I am a beginner with joints and weight manager, it got too complicated trying to wrap so folds.

I have the final shape/destination, have not animated the pose morph sliders yet.. The object it’s supposed to wrap is a not a perfect cube at all. Is there any direction you can point me too, where when the paper wraps this shape, I can manipulate the wrapping shape where its not a perfect cube?

Do I bake the animation, keyframes, than deform? Any suggestion, is there a deformer that would work?

Thank you for your help!

Also,

I have C4d version 19 Prime, below is link to shape I’m trying to wrap it to. It doesn’t have to be exact, but right now my file is too perfect.

Hi TCG,

I have so many ideas how that could look like, but I don’t know where you like to go with it. Paper is so versatile.

Would you like to “soften” your results? OR do you look for a complete different way. What is your starting point?

The Smooth-Deformer comes to mind, Perhaps with an Displacer Deformer (shader: Noise).

Perhaps a sketch of the paper [before and after the fold]?

All the best
