Why dont you render out still frames instead of using the animation gauss? This should render quickly and reduce the flickering should it not?

Hi Jose Morte,

The Animation Gauss is by default a little bit more smooth, to avoid temporal anti-alias problems.

Your question: I guess you refer here to the render filter setting Still and Cubic.

Please have a look here:

The Cubic function has a negative amount in it. This might be nice for a still image, but too sharp in most cases with animation/footage. Sharpened footage has an aesthetic which is not very often wanted, if at all. It also works against motion blur and leaves problems for color correction, etc. From where I look at it, any sharpening before “post” is a disadvantage. The problems shown in this quick tip would certainly amplified with any of the options with a negative curve part, said here based on experience, not that I had this scene here to explore it. If quality and post production comes into play, Gauss or Pal/NTSC should be preferred.

All the best
