Hi there

I’m trying to attach two lights to a mixamo rig of a charachter walking. I’ve managed to do so in cinema, adding the lights as eyes within the Head rig. Works fine. But I cannot get the resulting motion of the lights out of cinema into AE. I’ve tried baking the lights in the timeline dopesheet but that doesn’t produce any keyframes at all.

I’m sure I’m missing something here.

Cheers!

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the file. Please always without any 3rd party parts, I got a long list of none native c4d plug ins. So, any reply is just focusing on the two lights.

Since they (lights) are child objects with no change on their own, a baking would result in no change. For a change, one idea would be a new pair with Constrain tags (PSR) and then they have the change of position and rotation relating to the world system. This pair, while selected int eh Timeline can now be baked. See file below. The lights (copy) have all keyframes needed.

The simplest way:
With the “.aec” file I get the position change of the lights into AeCC2017. Since this is an Omni Light, it is expected to be position only.

If they are switched to Spot Lights, then rotation is included.

The file contains three pairs of light, the original, the constrained and the baked file. The AeCC2017 is linked to the
