Hi Doc.  I’m running C4D R19 on a Mac Pro, but am seriously considering switching to a PC because I really want to take advantage of GPU rendering with Redshift.  Here’s my question.  Since I will be rendering with Redshift, how many cores do I realistically need to take advantage of Cinema’s capabilities less the need to render using Standard or Physical?  I’m considering the Intel Core i7 7820X 8 Core 3.6GHz, the Intel Core i7 6850K 6 Core 3.6GHz, the Intel Core i7 6900K 3.2 GHz 8 Core, and the Intel Core i9 7900X 3.3GHz 10 Core.  Thanks for your advice!

Hi Mark,

No idea, and that should be a question to the Redshift team. So sorry, but I never have given here hardware recommendations. It is a difficult theme.

On Mac, use the Activity Monitor to see how much work is done by the CPU, while you are on a typical project.  Some very few processes are based on single core use. If that would hit the majority of your work, then that might answer it.

Typically I would say use the

and search for listing with such results. But that doesn’t answer the Redshift question, perhaps they have something.

Again sorry, but hardware recommendations, I do not have the overview nor the newest top ten of GPU here to test it. Just second hand information is not what I would share nor really trust.
