Splitting a thread. The Question below is a question about Copying Channels.

I’ve now started Part 18 and hit a question.  He has us copying the logo in the Color channel to the Alpha channel.  Yet R18 did not have, that I could see, the Copy Channel option in the Texture of the Color channel nor did I see the Paste Channel in the Alpha channel Texture dropdown.

Any link or info on this matter would be appreciated.  Thanks for the assistance.

Hi RR456,

It has been renamed to Copy Shader / Paste Shader.

To make it worthwhile, I added here a one minute clip with an alternative way:

One minute clip [18]:

You’re very welcome, RR456.

I’m glad that I can support here, and take a little bit the edge of the problems.

Let me know if there is anything else, I’m happy to look into it.

All the best

Hi AJHanneld,

We could guess or you check your Cineversity PM. There I have given you an upload link. Please use it to get the file in question to my Drop-Box account.

I will look into it.
Talk to you soon.

All the best

Here is a little clip, AJHanneld,

I hope it is not too short or too fast, but I hope that anything Patrick has already said will help to make sense of my little contribution.

One minute clip: (download the clip if you like)

What I have added is perhaps the point that is different in your file compared to the content of the tutorial: The orientation of the image vs the cylindrical projection. I have solved it here with the Layer Shader>Transform. (However, my own workflow is typical to open the image in Photoshop and change the orientation there, so it is done and the handling in C4D is simpler.)

If I do not answer the question here, please let me know.

All the best
