Hey,

I’m having a nightmare of a time trying to install Octane on my computer. Please help!
I have downloaded and installed the stand alone render. I opened it and certificated my credentials.
I have downloaded unzipped and moved the Octane Cinema 4d file into the plugins folder.
Launched cinema 4d and nothing…
I have uninstalled and re installed, restarted my computer but still I get nothing.

Everything about this process, from purchasing to installing has been a nightmare.

Am I the only one?

Thanks,

-Brendan

Hi Brendan,

I guess you have already followed each step in the manual
https://docs.otoy.com/Cinema4D/
then:
I’m certain the Support from Octane should be consulted about this.
https://help.otoy.com/hc/en-us/articles/214137323-OctaneRender-for-CINEMA-4D-Installation-Guide

You have checked the FAQ, I guess?
https://home.otoy.com/render/octane-render/faqs/
Or the forum
https://render.otoy.com/forum/

Good luck with the support. Sorry, about being not more helpful, but I followed each step, no problem here, and it shows up but my (current) Mac has not the right Graphic Card obviously, so I’m limited here.

FAQ #5
I’d like to use OctaneRender, but I don’t have a NVIDIA video card. Are OpenCL compatible cards (AMD and Intel GPUs) supported?
No, OpenCL is currently not as mature as CUDA. As OpenCL matures, it is planned to be supported which will allow GPUs from AMD and Intel to be used with OctaneRender. Currently, OctaneRender requires a CUDA enabled NVIDIA video card to function.

Unfortunately I have tried all of these options.

I have the correct graphics cards and have the latest drivers installed.
I can now see “Octane” in my Cinema 4D toolbar but it is empty when clicked.

Brendan307,

If that happens, your Plug In installation misses the res folder for example.
I tried to recreate your problem, in any other possible configuration, the res folder caused it for me, and certainly if content of this folder is missing: Octane appears in the Main Menu, but nothing further.

My tip, get in touch with the Octane support, provide a screen shot of the plug in folder. It will certainly help them to give you a faster reply.

Or clean out the system of all and anything Octane, perhaps there is a conflict from your prior problems. Restart, download the software freshly. There are plug ins for each version R15, R16, R17, R18, make certain that from the ones named with a R-version number you have only the one with the version number you use in it.
READ the “read me!” file, if the version of C4D is the one compatible with the one you have installed.

That is all I can share.

My best wishes.

Jul 30 2017—P.S.: In the moment you have registered your version, please try again.
