Hi there,

I hope someone can help me with a problem. I am using a tracer object with a sphere that spins around a formula mospline. these tracer lines are acting as fabric weave. I am trying to create something like this since no great helpful tutorials out there on fabric weave build up. Anyways when I hit ctrl r it renders all tracer lines in viewport, but when i go to the render to picture viewer button so i can set up multipass and what not it shows only 1 tracer line. Can anyone help with this. I will include the c4d file I have.

Nevermind I guess it works if you run all frames to render. Just not when doing a preview on just one frame

Hi Kotten_3,

To get a single image, how about this:

Set the Main Menu> Animation> Play Mode> Simple

Let run the whole animation once and leave it on the last frame, to produce a full Tracer Result.

Copy the Tracer, while the copy is selected, press the c key to make it editable.
Now drag this Spline into a MoSpline, after setting it to Attribute Manager> Object> Mode> Spline [and] Grow Mode> Separate Segments.
Apply the Formula to the MoSpline.
Apply the Hair Material to the MoSpline.
Set the MoSpline> Attribute Manager> End> to 0 at frame zero and 100 at the last frame (or as you chose)

Why it isn’t rendering per frame, I have at the moment no idea. I let you know when I find out.

A common workaround is to export it as Alembic file (spline/hair on) and re-import it. (Source: MoGraph Plus). Check your Render Settings if the Hair is set!

All the best

P.S.:

Here are two versions where the rendering for any specific time works, for the editor view as well as for the picture viewer.

File: (both are zipped in one)

Moving the group or the Tracer, either way, it works, as long as it follows this simple set up.

Instead of the cubes (used for visibility of the set up) one can use as well and Main Menu> Create> Object> Empty Polygon.

Please test this for your needs carefully

All the best
