Tying material channels together

Hello again

I’m sure others have this question, or have had it before….What is the best way to tie together two gradients, or two noises for example, between different channels of a material?
I’ve tried dragging various things to Xpresso, with no luck, and even Set driver/Set driven doesn’t always seem to work…Is there some way to connect things like that? My main reason for asking is that I often have a noise or a gradient in both luminance and color channels and I want it to stay in sync so I’m not constantly jumping between channels and repeating the same operations.

Thanks!

Hi Alex,

You drag the Gradient or Noise directly into XPresso, right? Anything you will wire in XPresso should work. If you have an example, please detail what is not working.

To get all the parts working, it is sometimes tedious to connect all the ports, Rick has created a series about

I have in mind here the part of the: Wire Ports

You might google “node based material Cinema 4D”, but I have no experience with those, so any questions will be not mine to answer. [cmnodes]

Sorry, not so much that I can offer otherwise.

All the best
