I’ve got an object with an xpresso rig which relies on the position/data of some null objects, when I put it in a cloner, certain aspects stop working, so I need to make it editable, however, when I do that, all nulls which don’t have children, are deleted.

I can already think of workarounds, like not using nulls but some other dummy object, or give the null a dummy child, but I wish I didn’t have to, its wasteful/inefficient maybe I’m missing some basic info?

You can use a: Main Menu>Create>Empty Polygon.

This will work like Null, has pretty much the same memory needs, and if needed can be renamed as Null.

Thanks for the suggestion, that should work fine. I never noticed the empty polygon before, very useful to know!

You could set even just one point in it:Structure Manager: New Line, and store so even more information. (Just a thought, as I do not know where you are going with this)

Not as simple as an “Empty Polygon-Object”, but perhaps something that has a huge flexibility.

With the Python Generator one can just type in “null” instead of “cube” and get results: it is as easy as that.

The Generator—even set to produce just a null—will not been deleted after making things editable [c].
It can be made editable after it, or even can be changed.

I put those P.S. stuff into threads mostly when things are solved or just to add an alternative. I hope it is nice to have more options.
