Export Motion Camera to AE

Hi there

I got my C4D scene ready for export to png sequence. Within that scene I used the Motion Camera to get that nice handheld touch. When I import the C4D file to AE and extract the 3D Camera to my Comp with the png sequences, the Camera is not animated at all.

What am I missing here? The Morph Cam and all the other Cameras work well when exported to AE.

I haven’t found any setting to ‘convert Camera Movement to Keyframes’ and when I try to import the .aec file I get for the Renderdialog in C4D I get an error in AE.

Thanks for the help!

Steve

Hi Steve,

Please have a look into this file:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/GOPeirP2ZblRjlp6jSrqZQTDryfNoeaAqsuwTGxb8oc

What I did, was to drag the camera object into the time line itself (The Motion Camera Tag might be there, but that is not the one…)

While in the Dope-Sheet and the Camera selected: Function>Bake Objects…
The default setting works just fine.

This created the Camera (Copy)
Please let me know if that works for you.

All the best

That worked like a charm!

Thanks Dr. Sassi!

Cheers from Switzerland.

Thanks a lot for the nice feedback, Steve!
Great!
My best wishes for your project.

P.S.: … since I learn often new applications, just to keep that “new interface = hitting a wall” feeling fresh, I love to provide little one minute clips, just to really support the learning. So for everyone want to see how it works: take a minute

There is also a great script over at aescripts that takes care of most of the problems when exchanging data between the 2 apps http://aescripts.com/aec4d/
It just works like you would expect cineware and aec to work(which are still great, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes you experience quirky things). You just hit the button and it takes the world coordinates of the objects and sents those over - which is especially great when you use camera rigs. It also brings over Spot Lights and some of the settings.
I use it quite often as it let’s me adjust and test things more easily. But maybe that is just me grin
