Sorry that you have some trouble. Here is my pure Mac workflow to get it done. (None of these files are supposed to be “started” like an “installer”)

The Folder which contains the files needs to be placed into your Preference Folder of C4D. In order to do that, go to :

Main Menu>Edit>Preferences [CMD-e]
On the bottom of that window you get a button [Open Preferences Folder…] to access directly this folder. Place the CV-Toolbox folder inside of it. I got that you have un-zipped it already, which is correct. But again the folder “Cv-Toolbox” goes completely into this Preference Folder. There place the folder into the Plug-Ins Folder.
Restart CINEMA 4D

Edit: I just went to the whole process, installing CINEMA 4D newly, and then installing the Plug In of course. It works here. But I have not Yosemite here installed…/edit

If this isn’t working, please contact the support.

All the best

This was very helpful - Thank you!
One other question - once plugins are successful installed, how do I open the dialog again if I want to install something additional?

OOPs answered my own question just now—> Plugins Menu—> CV toolbox

For render farm use, does the plug-in install in the same way you do on the client end?

I guess, more importantly, confirming it will even work on the farm?

Thanks

Hi Geoff,

I can’t follow here, why would you ask a render-farm to export 3D-models. You might have a good reason, would you like to share this please? I guess Rick, as being hyper busy at NAB, might reply next week. I try only to gain the needed info, so the reply could be much quicker. Or is this a general question? The render-farm should contact MAXON US, AFAIK.

From the downlaod area:
CV-SmartExport 1.21
by Rick Barrett / published by Cineversity
CV-SmartExport offers Cinema 4D users powerful flexibility when exporting 3D models and animation to popular formats like FBX and OBJ. Export selected objects and create separate files for each scene layer or object group. Bake Position, Scale, Rotation and PLA data prior to export. Export sequential files for each frame, complete projects with assets, or separate files based on markers used to define separate animation takes. All this functionality is available within a simple plugin, utilizing any built-in or plugin exporter available in Cinema 4D

All the best

Pardon if this is mis-posted. I merely clicked the help from this page [ https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaylist/cv-vrcam/cvvrcam_install ]. It’s the CV-VRCAM plugin for rendering 360 content from within C4D. The help link brings you here.

Thanks for clearing this, Geoff, I wasn’t aware of the link set up. My bad!

Yes, that makes so much more sense. If the render-farm has no access to it, they can use the Contact Us option in the lower right corner of this page. (I hope this is the best way, otherwise Michelle or Rick, perhaps Donovan chimes in, and will correct me of course, ASAP :o)

Is this a time critical question? If so, please advice, I will see what I can do. (NAB this week, as mentioned…)

My best wishes

Yes, please feel free to have any render farm contact us through the ‘Contact Us’ and we’ll help get them setup for using our Plugins.

Best,
Michelle

Hi belushy,

Please provide a simple scene file that can reproduce the problem, thanks. (No 3rd part plug ins, no other objects in the scene please)

Cheers

Hi Florian Frey,

When I select a top null from an object, it works fine here. Except, I don’t get the same hierarchy, based on the re-import splitting/combining.

To my understanding this plug-in was developed for animation based scenes, I can’t see any animation in your file. So I have set the time to 0-1.

There is a Bug Report in the Plug in interface, would you mind to use this. In this way you get the developer directly.

The model geometry looks fine, the file has 207.4MB. I test many options.

Perhaps the model file (not the cameras), if exported directly as Wavefront OBJ will work for you. But again the structure in the Object Manager might differ.

Cheers

Is CV-Smart Export working in R20? I’m seeing some strange behaviour that I don’t remember seeing before.
When I export an object (for instance to FBX) it now renames the scene I’m working in!
(It renames it to the name I selected for the exported object)

It didn’t used to do that.
