Hi Ahmedmostafa,

Try to get the color and appearance of the object with one Material.

Then use the Flat projection with no tile and an alpha channel (material sits then right sided from the first. Perhaps a partially Spherical works better.

Let me know if you need an example for this, I’m happy to set one up for you.

All the best

Hi Ahmedmostafa,

Thank you very much. This is a failry straight question and of course, as often, there is not just a single answer. There might be many more options, but I hope these two will give you some ideas.

Texturing can be done in BodyPaint 3D as well, and especially with UV[W] maps, but that is maybe after you feel more savvy with the projection.

The little one minute movie clip below is certainly not thought as a tutorial, more a little pointer where to look and the places considered to be influential.

I type sometimes an X into the Selection. As no selection was called X, this is my way to shut a material off for a moment.
Note as well please that I use a Polygon Selection to limit the area of the eyes.

My approach here is simple, I split the main features (here the eyes) from the “pattern”. In this way one can gain more control. Have a look at the alpha channel in comparison with the texture [minion eye] to gain a clean edge the color is extended over the alpha edges.

I know that you provided small jpgs for the submission, to keep it small. Typically it is better to recreate those in production [if possible], in a much higher resolution, just to have some safety in the project.

The Spiderman-pattern, check out the texture used and how the projection creates the web. This is of course a quick sketch. A straight pattern, bend with Photoshops “Shear” distortion and repeated.
This is more to push a little bit the motivation to really “play” with the projections and understand them deeply, so you can create with them, instead of just apply in a standard fashion.

Scene file (Textures are for educational purpose only as the film studios etc have the copyrights on them, so “fair use only”)

The examples are done with Photoshop, but certainly Illustrator might be the better way to create such graphics.

Let me know if you have a question!

Enjoy

Thank you, Ahmedmostafa.

A method that I would call: “Quick ‘n’ Dirty”, as it leaves you with no adjustment options, is called “Shrink Wrap” projection. I typically use it for a quick (and kind of a little bit wrong!) use of Probe.HDR images. wink

Have a look at the file here:

Yes, there is one more surprise in it. Just to keep you exploring!

Enjoy.

You’re very welcome, Ahmedmostaf.

My biggest benefit, looking back over a decade, is to get constantly question that shows me what I don’t know (and have then learned based on this realization) or what I can create based on top of the given idea (of the question at hand).

My best wishes for your project.
