Which video card is more suitable for C4D

Can anybody advise me on this decision:

I am getting a powerful (12 core) refurbished Mac Pro 5,1 built to my own specifications.
I have a choice of two video cards at nearly the same price

Nvidia HTX 780 3GB
AMD R9 280X 3GB

I am looking for opinions as tyo which of the two (if any) might be better suited for using with C4D
The main difference appears to be that the Nvidia card supports CUDA technologiy - what exactly does this do, and can rendering and live preview in C4D (Studio) benefit from it?

my other Mac has an AMD Radeon R9 M380 2048 MB card. Are there any issues concerning net rendering on on both machines together, with either of the two cards in the “new” Mac Pro?

cheers
Günther

Hi Günther,

Requirements are here:
https://www.maxon.net/en-us/products/infosites/system-requirements/
The suggestion is to check Cinebench, but since you don’t have the cards yet, use the “results” from others perhaps.
https://www.maxon.net/en/products/cinebench/

With some results here:
http://cbscores.com
Perhaps this helps to evaluate the cards in context.

CUDA:

Example—Adobe:

I do not see any problems with Team Render, but you might ask the Support as well, as technical things should be directed always to the support.

Enjoy your new Mac!

Most of this is a small bit above my head, Sassi. It seems most people in the 3D community, especially those who need fast preview (gamers) generally prefer Nvidia as a brand ... nut then again, opinions vary ... It also seems that i7 processors are faster than Xeon chips, which might change my mind about getting a Mac Pro, but I must do more research before I believe that. I have occasionally found that chips with higher clock speed don’t always get jobs done faster in the “Real World”.

Thanks
G.
