Is there a way to save this combined window?

Hi,

Is there a way to save this combined window?

So I can just call it up rather than opening three different managers/editor and combine them every time I open C4D.

The layout is not an option since by then I have to modify the icons/scripts/ for every single layout every time I need to change it.

You can see an illustration of the problem here:

Thank you for looking at the problem

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the illustration.

You can create any new Group-Window in Cinema 4D to your liking, but I have no knowledge about saving this Group Window so it can be called up via menu or shortcut, independent from the chosen layout.
Since pretty much any customization tutorial claims that Cinema 4D is freely and totally customizable, I must have a gap in my knowledge, as has the manual obviously; Nor seems any right-mouse-click to unveil some secrets. I even googled it. So, after nearly two hours of renewed research, I have to hand it over.

Having said that: To my knowledge, any user-created window must be saved as part of the layout. If that is free-floating or integrated the GUI as tab (either collapsed or not). Since you can save as many Layouts as you like, this would be all I can share.

Compared to “completely customizable”, my reply here seems very thin. My best advice at this point is, get in contact with the support:

Besides that, the Tutorial request forum is an idea to voice this wish.

Fingers crossed.

Hi Dr. Sassi.

Thank you for the effort. Appreciate it a lot.
Just created a ticket on the Maxon Support.

Will update as soon as they get back to me.

The task above is currently not possible. Just sent a suggestion instead

Here is the Maxon Support response

if you want to change your layout that way, there is just the possibility to save this as a new layout. A simple userdefined window cannot be created inside Cinema 4D. You just have to create an own layout in this special case.

You can add this kind of feature request on our website for the development, if you want to have such possibility integrated into a coming version:

Thanks a lot, Ben, and sorry that there is no way.

So no gap in my knowledge, but the claim that it is freely customizable is not a given right now. Those claims made me strangely uncertain if I perhaps have had missed something.

My best wishes.
