Hello. I connected the 5 belt tags like in the video (my Version: R19) and had the same problem like at 6:19. But if i take the iteration up to 50 (or higher), this will not solve the problem. I tried everything i could think of, but the stretching did not disappear. I tried it also with more fixed points… Had anyone a advice for me.

(Sorry for my english. I’m from Germany.)

Hi Sascha Wolkenar,

Sorry about the trouble, this should have been mentioned by now in the text.

Please try first to increase the Cloth Tag> Expert> Subsampling value.

This was discussed here as well:
https://www.cineversity.com/forums/viewthread/2463/

I have checked my file as well, and it seems to be fine with the current version [R20]
Have a look to this file, where you can find five different ways to connect the curtain:

Please never worry about language, I know only too well how that feels. (If you are uncertain that a part of your communication might be not understood, write in () in the way you feel comfortable after the text, I will try to translate it (e.g., via online translation). (I speak German fluently, BTW)

Again, sorry about the inconvenience.

ENJOY.

P.S.: I went through all mesh configurations again. From large to fine. The simplified answer would be, that the smaller the polygon, the more a “whole frame duration” is pulling on it. The best remedy seems to be, as mentioned before, to set the Expert Subsampling value higher. Since this causes way longer calculation times, I guess the best workable solution is to find the sweet-spot with many points belted, and the subsampling.

Of course, no exploration with trying out the new Fields to incorporate this into a scene.

Thank you very much for the realy fast reply! This was the solution. I find a good mix of iterations (15) and subsampling (20) that works fine for my project.

Btw: I like your tutorials. Good structure and speed. I will give your youtube channel a try. wink

Hace a nice day.

You’re very welcome, Sascha Wolkenar. Thanks a lot for the nice feedback!

We placed the “Photography for 3D Artists” series (and related work) on this YouTube channel to allow photographers to enjoy them as well. The idea is, to create an understanding what is needed for 3D, in other words, discussing reproduction-photography vs artistically motivated work. Having used SLRs since way too long to admit it, hehe, and have studied photography at the University of the Arts in Berlin (HdK), I hope my two years of work for this series will be worth the time watching it. Thanks a lot for your interest.

My best wishes.
