I thought I was following the demo in correctly. This a bug?
I tried doing from scratch and opening the demo files.

Once I remove the cache, changing the flexion doesn’t help keep the curtain stiff.

Opening the curtain demo file in R20 and R19 didn’t change anything.

Hi fancystache,

Yes, things have changed. If you take the scene file and select the top three lines of points and connect (SET) them to the “Belt” it should work already more as shown in the tutorial.

To set the “Mass” to around 0.25 should support the results.

I hope that helps, and sorry for the inconvenience. It should be noted in the description of the tutorial.

BTW, please do not open a post in this Forum directly, use always the Help button. Thanks!

This helps to keep things organized and searchable.

All the best

P.S.: If the stretch directly below the belt is too large for your use, increase the Cloth Tag> Expert> Subsampling

P.S.: I went through all mesh configurations again. From large to fine. The simplified answer would be, that the smaller the polygon, the more a “whole frame duration” is pulling on it. The best remedy seems to be, as mentioned before, to set the Expert Subsampling value higher. Since this causes way longer calculation times, I guess the best workable solution is to find the sweet-spot with many points belted, and the subsampling.

Of course, no exploration with trying out the new Fields to incorporate this into a scene. Falling curtain here, not a pulling version.

No matter how many iterations I use, the cloth belt still seems to be holding only by the single points. I’m using S22.

Yes, twdempsey, something had changed a while ago.

I assume the posts earlier to yours were not based on the Help button, so I merged the two here.

I explored the file that I have shared earlier. Here are two new versions of it:

You might cache the solutions; at least on my machine, it looks like slow-motion.

Sorry about the inconvenience.

Enjoy
