Hello from Switzerland
I just imported a greater machine-file in .STEP format… works fine in R20!
I just have some effects, I cannot explain…
If you rotate one of the two objects on the left, the corresponding on the right rotates too???
And how comes that a instance of a null shows something?
grazie per l’aiuto
Henri

Hi Henry,

This is a normal behavior and independent of the CAD importer.

The Instance takes the Null object as a Parent, it can’t limit the rotation down the hierarchy.

You could make a copy of the Null with the two objects.

Let me know how you need this to work, and I will take a look into it.

All the best

Grazie mille…
a copy resolves the problem for my work!
I tried to get the mechanism… but I am still confused… what did I, to change the normal behavior in this example? No rotation of the instance… but size etc..
If you refer the instance to the nul-object, the instance disappears :-(

Thanks for the file, Henry. Files just tell the whole story grin Fa niente. or was it Di niente. I have to refresh my vocabulary.

Please have a look at the clip, you might find the missing box wink … and an extra tip, since there is really an option to be able to have lost the box.

What I didn’t know, but it is kind of logical, that the render- or multi instance can’t be made editable. Nice, I would have missed that! So, thanks for the question.

Ciao!
