Hi Imran,

I tested a few set ups, but so far the simplest to use is based on the Ripple Shader. Noise is not loop-able without repetition or mirroring, I tried even to set up a projected UV to get something, but it all looks not really noise like anymore. (Otherwise there might be another way to create a clip of footage with it first, then apply it.)
To render a clip:

Have a look here for the Ripple Shader:

As mentioned in the file, results are ONLY visible in the Picture Viewer. If you use the Displacer Deformer, that needs the Picture Viewer as well to see any influence of it.

One of the tests I dismissed, but just in case it has anything usable for you:

Hi Imran,

Thanks for the scene file. So much easier than the image, as it shows what you want to do.

How about animating a flag based on a Plane Object and then bend it.

Let me know if that works. It should open this problem up to other ideas, e.g., the Flag Deformer.

If there is anything else, Imran, please let me know.

I’m happy to look into something else, but I need some more information how those flags will move and how they should behave.
