Really great results from an unexpected method. I’m wondering how he created the initial animation. I see a keyframe on the first frame, but this is probably a procedural animation. Any idea how he setup the deformer object to create that animation?

Hi jobe,

Here is scene file, that shows the effect:

Please explore two things here, first the “Falloff” of the Displacer, and secondly, the animation in the “Noise” shader, inside the Displacer.

Let me know if that works for you.

All the best

Hi!

Is there a way to get a smoother animation when using the Sound Effector? My spline is jumping way to quick, even with the Decay and Fall off values at 100%

EDIT: The strange thing is that it looks great in the Viewport but way to messy in the rendered file…

Hi eriksoderberg,

Please adjust the noise animation parameter (In the Displacer>Shading) to your liking.

Another option would be, to use a Delay Effector inside the MoSpline. Set to Blend and nearly stop any motion with a strength of 100%, or accordingly, anything toward 0% allows for much more movement. Note that teh Delay Effector can have its own Falloff.

Delay Effector Example:
