Hi Guys,

I have a high Polygon Model and I would like to rig it with mixamo.
The model is 500 MB as a obj.
If I bind itin Cinema with a bone chain nothing happens. The model stay in T Position
When I use the autoriger, mixamo gives me an error.

Is it important to reduce the polygons to a max of 100.000 Polys or less.

Is there a workflow anywhere?

Thanks

Max

Hi Max,

You certainly have a reason for this amount in the mesh. Other wise a Polygon Reduction is certainly helpful.

As introduce here
https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaytut/new_in_cinema_4d_r19_polygon_reduction

This reduced mesh could be then used with Maximo. Where Maximo has its limits needs to be discussed with them of course.

A good option might be given here, to use the low res mesh as “driving” cage for the high res mesh.

or here

I hope that will work for you

All the best

Hi Sassi,

thank you for your tip but the mesh Deformer need to much virtual ram to work in a propper way.

My Problem is, that the Character is a robot and he consist of many pices like a Transformer.
To Reduce the Pices makes him not so nice. I ask me how will Michael Bay solfe such Problems with OptimusPrime

so many details in good resolution. Is it not posible to bind the bones from mixamo to the hi Poly Ojekt?

Max, if it is a Robot, I assume all (or mostly) are stiff mechanical elements, you don’t need to have those weighted. Weighting is to deform (more or less) organically.

Robots are closer to the Bone (joints) set up, as bones are stiff mechanical elements (or seen as such).

Here is an example:

Scene File

There are more options to connect the Joints with the Objects, but I hope the two different versions I have used here illustrate the idea, and no weighting at all.
In that way, there should be no performance problems. A reduced version can be used for the Mixamo “communication” as they care more for the Joint rig than about the details of course.

Let me know if that works, as I have no idea about your robot at all.

Note that even animated elements under a zeroed out Null, can be then placed/constrained to a joint.

My best wishes for your project

I hope this project will work out nicely for you, Max.

Yes “Viele Wege führen nach Rom”.  To travel well, one has to explore more than one of them.

Let me know if there is anything else, I’m happy to look in any de-tour to Rome. wink

Enjoy.
